Jason Lerner

Portfolio Manager, UChicago Health Lab

Jason Lerner has devoted his career to the pursuit of fairness and equity in our nation’s criminal justice system. Jason’s portfolio at Health Lab includes all of the lab’s 911 and emergency response-related projects, including, a quantitative analysis of Chicago’s 911 data as well as qualitative work with the city’s 911 system stakeholders. His portfolio also includes evaluations of several promising community-based interventions for high-risk mental health and co-occurring substance users.

Jason previously served as Research Manager with the University of Chicago Crime Lab New York. Prior to that he coordinated NYC’s RxStat program, a multi-agency public health-public safety collaboration focused on the problem of drug overdose mortality in New York City. Jason has also spent many years providing direct behavioral health services in a variety of clinical settings. Jason holds a B.A. and J.D. degree from Rutgers University and an M.S.W. from Columbia University.
